Parramatta Light Rail donates to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead
13 June 2018The Parramatta Light Rail team presented The Children’s Hospital at Westmead with a donation that has funded three new wheelchairs.
One wheelchair has been donated to the oncology ward to assist children who become lethargic and are unable to walk for large amounts of time as a result of chemotherapy. The other two wheelchairs have been donated for general hospital use such as getting children between various appointments or allowing them to go outside and get some sunlight in the garden.
Tim Poole, Parramatta Light Rail program director, said the project was committed to supporting local charities, community events and initiatives.
“We are excited to provide this donation which has funded three new wheelchairs for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead,” he said.
“This donation has been raised through a number of staff-driven initiatives and recognises the Parramatta Light Rail team’s support for the communities and areas for whom we are building the light rail.”
The Bandaged Bear Appeal is The Children’s Hospital at Westmead’s signature fundraising appeal, helping to raise vital funds for their patients.
The Parramatta Light Rail project team, with more than 150 staff is based at 130 George Street, Parramatta.
