Parramatta Light Rail to ramp up work, with changes to construction hours16 April 2020
Parramatta Light Rail construction will now be seven days a week, as part of the changes introduced by the NSW Government in response to COVID-19.
The legislative changes allow standard construction hours to extend to weekends and public holidays.
The Parramatta Light Rail standard construction hours are now:
- 7:00am to 7:00pm (or 7:00am to 6:00pm on ‘Eat Street’) Monday to Friday
- 7:00am to 6:00pm Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
The Parramatta Light Rail team will continue to keep stakeholders and communities informed of these changes. We understand it is a difficult and challenging time as construction work is happening when more people are at home, either working or studying.
The construction team will make every effort to reduce the impacts of works, where possible, including limiting the number of nights we work in a particular area, utility works scheduled in non-peak periods, using sound blankets to shield noise, directing lighting towers away, making sure noisiest work is completed earlier in the shift, monitoring and reviewing noisy work, using non-tonal reversing beepers on machinery, and turning off equipment when not in use.
